2.5.1 Literacy and numeracy strategies
The lesson focused on literacy and numeracy strategies aimed at a Year 8 audience, to assist in preparation for the following year’s NAPLAN. The strategy utilised for this lesson was learning through ‘play’ and testing previous knowledge already taught to the students in their previous literacy and numeracy classes. Evidence provided for this standard is the lesson observation carried out by Mr. Post, Mirani State High School, Deputy Principal, who gave strong feedback along with constructive suggestions to improve the lesson in the future. Following the lesson, I analysed the teaching method and discussed it with the observing teacher, identifying areas that we both felt could be improved, with a joint focus on specific teaching methods.
