4.5.1 Use ITC safely, responsibly and ethically
As a pre-service teacher my ICT skills are key in creating a safe and supportive learning environment when students are using technology. I achieved this on practicum through leading by example, assigning small groups around the classroom, modelling the requirements on the board, following the department and school’s ICT policy/procedure and keeping the use of the laptops specific and purposeful. Additionally, I reinforced the school and system policies in relation to the student’s wellbeing before and during the use of the school’s technology. I closely monitored the small groups and the students were made aware of their behaviour outcomes. Attached is an observation completed by a casual teacher attending one of my lessons.
